According to the reports the three Palestinians, two Hamas members and a teenager, were members of the same family.
Earlier one Palestinian was killed and several others were injured in an Israel Air Force missile attack on a vehicle in the Gaza City neighborhood of Sajaiyeh, sources in the Strip said. Islamic Jihad sources identified the man killed in the attack as Raad Fanuneh, a senior official in the organization’s military wing.
An Islamic Jihad member said Fanuneh was a senior commander in the group’s rocket unit and was arrested in the past by the IDF and the Palestinian Authority.
“This is a major blow for us,” he said. Israeli military officials denied that the gunman was killed from the air.
Palestinian medics and witnesses said that in the early hours of Wednesday morning Israeli forces killed a militant from the Islamic Jihad group during a raid against gunmen near the town of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip. The man who was killed was later identified as 20-year-old Di Abu Daka.
There were no reports on injuries among the soldiers.
IDF sources confirmed that Givati Brigade, as well as Armor and Engineering Corps forces were operating in the northern Strip, near the Karni crossing, and near the Sufa crossing in the south.
The operations were carried out to locate terror cells, the army said.
The Palestinian medics said two more Islamic Jihad militants were wounded in gun battles between Israeli troops and gunmen.
The number of military raids against Palestinian militants in Gaza has increased since the Islamist Hamas group took over the territory by force this month. Israel pulled its forces and settlers out of the area in 2005.
Israeli soldiers raided the home of an Islamic Jihad gunman in the West Bank on Tuesday. A Palestinian security official had reported a militant from the group had been killed but said on Wednesday the man was wounded and alive.
